Geology or Palenthology?

This part of the rocky shore reminds me on the backbone of a dinosaur.

Not the desert-- it's Rancho Palos Verdes

I spotted this cactus not far from the trail that I pictured yesterday-- right in view of the ocean.  We have such diversity in RPV.

One of Our Local Canyons

This canyon is accessed from Ladera Linda Community Park.  It's off the Quartz Trail, not far from home here in Rancho Palos Verdes. You can go much farther than 1/3 mile by taking a series of trails.

Wildflowers on the Second Day of Spring

We took a hike in the local San Gabriel Mountains in Altadena and found a lot of spring wildflowers.  I wish I knew the name of this one.

Evening Hikers

There are sixty to eighty individuals who hike each Thursday night from the corner of Silver Spur and Hawthorne Blvd.  The trails that surround this urban area go into canyons, on to bluff tops, or uphill.  All of the trails take us to places where city life is easily forgotten.
