Minus Tide

During the winter months, there are very low (minus tides) during daylight hours.  It's great to see the rock structures that are usually hidden by ocean water.

Another Beautiful California Classic Car

The mild climate of Southern California allows cars to last much longer than in other places in the U.S.A.  This is one of the ones displayed by a classic car club near Point Fermin Park each Sunday.

Answer to "Where is This?"

Here's another view of this fire prevention complex on Lamma Island, Hong Kong.  (See my post of Feb. 13, if you didn't read the related question.)

Lovely Place to Visit

This branch library overlooks the Los Angeles harbor and the local mountains.  It's filled with students after school every week day, but is still a relaxing and lovely place to spend some time.

City Garage Theatre

The City Garage Theatre is a legitimate theater space that was converted from the Santa Monica City Garage-- hence the car signs.

Favorite Toys

This little girl was arriving home from a trip to Thailand.  She carried her favorite doll and newest stuffed animal on her back so she could have them to play with.

Where is This?

Here's a series of contemporary buildings with striking colors.  Looks like Greece, Morocco, Santa Fe, New Mexico, or Venice, CA.  Try to guess where I took this picture?

Robot

Here's some more public art from the San Francisco airport.  It's one of several life-size version of robots made from objects found at local flea markets.  The artist, Clayton G. Bailey, calls this one, "Gear Bot."  It's one of my favorites.  Check back next week for photos of Fresnel Bot, Milk Bot, and Lava Bot.

Airport Public Artmural

I spent a few hours in the San Francisco International airport en route to Hong Kong.  I enjoyed some lovely pieces of public art as I walked around.  This photo is a portion of the large mural, Santuario/Sanctuary by Juana Alicia and Emmanuel Catarino.  The media is fresco buono with basswood bas relief sculptures.

These parabolic "dishes" and spheres are in a great place to provide communications.

Looking Eastward

This is the view looking eastward from my Theme Day photo of February 1.  As you can see, there's a manufactured home complex within walking distance of this nice hillside trail.

Studious Family Helper

I was impressed by this young girl, still in her school uniform, who was studying while taking care of her family's produce display. She didn't have much light, but she was trying to be a responsible student and a good daughter.

I'm visiting family here in Hong Kong. This decorative store front protection looks in on the main street of Yung Shue Wan.
