Last Friday there was a big rally of teachers, students and parents about the lack of adequate funding for education in California. This is one of many signs I noticed.

Last Friday, May 13, 2011, was the last day to notify teachers that they would not be returning to their jobs next year. Thousands of people came from all over the southern part of California to protest the lack of funding for education. These people were some of the participants

Before the Race

I'm looking forward to seeing this marker today. On Friday, it was sitting next to the expo tent only a few feet away from the mile 11 and 12 markers.

Spring in February

Several types of flowering trees have blossoms like they believe spring has arrived even though it's only early February. Both the flowering pear and a peach tree are in full bloom.

Sunset at Huntington Beach

I drove down to Surf City, Huntington Beach, to pick up my race bib and chip for Sunday's Surf City Half Marathon. I left there just as the sun was setting.
