I was surprised yesterday to see this bar advertising a MJ party for last night, July 29.

Knit n Cruise

One of the local yarn shops sponsored a two-hour cruise around Alamitos Bay called Knit n Cruise. Participants were encouraged to bring their knitting and lunches to enjoy while

"cruising" around on an electric boat. This part of Long Beach-- not Rancho Palos Verdes-- has residential canals with very expensive homes.

Important Warning

The notice about not "topping off" is one that I'd not noticed until last week when I was filling up my gasoline tank. Air pollution is a problem exacerbated by gas fumes-- hence the notice.

Our library hosted "Sound of Music" outside on the lawn tonight.  There were more than 100 people there to sing a long and enjoy the movie.

Backyard Pond

My friends have had to devise something to keep the raccoons from eating the fish in their backyard pond.  They use a net over it at night and pieces of wood embedded with nails.

"Epi" Surprise

My poor  "epi" cactus plant has been really neglected and is in a bad location, but it surprised me with a lovely bloom that I discovered yesterday.

Celebrating with my Mother

Today, July 16, is my mother's 84th birthday.  This year Disneyland California is giving free admission to guests on their birthdays, if they've pre-registered.  Mom wanted to go to Disneyland for the first time in about twenty years so we went.

Truth or Fiction?

I was on the island of Kauai, Hawaii last week. The sign was in four pieces when I walked over to it.  I put the pieces together to take the photo.  Some local guys who were near a truck drinking told me that the beach was for everyone and that I could come any time.  I wasn't so sure that they were genuine in inviting me to use the beach, but other tourists were using it.

Stop? Or Something Else?

This sign has been used by too many people for their own personal messages.  The real message is almost obliterated.  Fortunately, the shape is the standard one for "Stop" here in all of the fifty U.S.A. states.

It's really summer once we can attend a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.  I've been off to the island of Kauai, Hawaii, but will try not to post too many of those pictures.
