Unexpected Rain!

We had quite a sudden downpour this afternoon.  If you look closely, you can see that one section of the pavement remained dry because the tree caught all of the water.

Ecological Brush Clearance

We had a lack of winter rain so we're experiencing a drought. Spring Wildflowers

The California poppy is our state flower.  About one hundred miles from here is the California Poppy Preserve, but California poppies occur naturally in a lot of other places.  These are growing next to a power pole on my street.  Another volunteer that's commonly seen is this variety of lupine.   Texans call it a "bluebonnet."

Wildflowers on the Second Day of Spring

Spring in Southern California

Spring hasn't officially begun, but that hasn't stopped our fields from bursting out in green.

Early Spring

The flowering pear trees that line our street have already blossomed even though we're still have some cold days.
