Signs of Impending Construction
Before owners of vacant lots can have their building permit approved, they have to erect this type of structure. That way their neighbors can tell if their view of the ocean will be blocked by the new structure. These posts are on the corner of Hawthorne Blvd. and Crest Road. I'll be watching to see what, if anything, gets built there.

I know there's a lot of red tape involved with building anything and some talk of the government taking away our right to build, blah, blah blah, but I think this is a great plan and more city's/townships should require this type of approval where views are involved. It makes for happy neighbors. My background: I've worked in Land Surveying for over 14 years and have met a lot of angry neighbors fighting over an inch of wooden deck/fence/driveway/tree/shrub/you name it.
I agree with Jules that this plan does keep people happy. This structure looks like it might have two stories in some parts and one story in another part. I'm really curious to see what it will turn out to be.
